MAN with a history of drunken violence could serve as eight months behind bars for sampling, the eyes of a person with a glass of wine during the celebration of new year last year at least.
Brisbane District Court today told Wayne Robert Smith, 28, is a sentence suspended prison violence when he punched Brett Paul Clark, 31, in the face while holding glass in Caboolture, in the northern outskirts of Brisbane, on 31 December.
The Court has told Smith, father of two, there was a significant criminal history, with a conviction for the assault of throwing a bottle of beer in his head in September 2007.
Attorney Vicki Loury said Smith received a mandate 18 months ' imprisonment, suspended after serving four months for a friend's hand with a knife in November 2006.
Smith today was sentenced to six years of prison after alleged guilty of one count of assault, is liable to cause serious bodily harm, common assault and unlawful assault.
